Tiger shot dead

 GUWAHATI: A full-grown Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) was shot dead by Assam Police Battalion personnel near Kaziranga National Park on Monday after the animal had gone on a rampage in a village close to the national park.

An official source informed that the tiger which strayed out of the national park, was found hiding in the backyard of a villager. As the villagers gathered in the area on hearing about the presence of the tiger, the animal all of a sudden came out of hiding and start attacking people coming on its way. Assam Police Battalion (APBn) personnel who were rushed to the spot, opened fire at the animal after it had attacked one of the police jawans. It was killed on the spot. An inquiry has been ordered into the killing.
