SHILLONG: Authorities of Don Bosco College, Tura have said that the defamation suit filed against it by Congress ticket aspirant, Anamika J G Momin is absolutely baseless.

College authorities in a statement issued here refuted Momin’s claim and instead alleged her of committing fraud by simultaneously working as a teacher at the college while she was appointed by the government for a teaching job at Dadenggre Government School from 2014.

“She concealed the information that she was an employee of a government school and drew salary from both institutions,” the statement said.

Earlier, an FIR was filed against Momin by Don Bosco College authorities for withdrawing over Rs 2 lakhs without attending to her work as assistant lecturer for almost two years.

According to the FIR, Momin had joined the Higher Secondary Section of the college on September 17, 2015 but discontinued her service on January 31 the next year without tendering any resignation or intimating college authorities.

Soon after news about the FIR became a public knowledge, Momin had issued a clarification followed by another statement claiming the filing of a defamation suit against college authorities with a demand for an amount of Rs 5 crore as compensation.
