Local holidays have been declared for all State Government offices, Magisterial Courts, Revenue, Educational institutions etc of West Garo Hills district on October 25 to commemorate the 27th death anniversary of Lt. Captain WA Sangma and on November 9 for the 100 Drums Wangala festival.
Inauguration
Deputy Chief Minister R C Laloo will inaugurate a 3 – day specialised training programme on “Seismic Safety Assessment of Building in Rapid Visual Screening and Retrofitting” on October 24 at 11 am at Shillong Club.
MP V H Pala will inaugurate the Nongwar Football Playground on October 24 at Nongwar village, under Sohra Civil Sub-Division at 11 am followed by a friendly football match between Langsning SC and North East United Youth Team.
Protest
In response to the call of NFPE & AIPEU; GDS , the postal employees of Shillong under the banner of NFPE & AIPEU; GDS , observed protest demonstration on Monday in front of Shillong GPO against the department’s attitude of permitting the banks for postal savings schemes resulting in drastic reduction of workload and revenue; delay in implementation of GDS committee report and sudden stoppage of GDS membership verification . The postal MPKBY and SAS agents supported the agitating postal employees.
Meeting
