Centre keen to open more ITIs in State

SHILLONG: Union Minister of state for skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Anant Kumar Hegde said that   Centre would look into the idea of opening more Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state if there were proposals from the State Government

Speaking to media persons after inspecting the ITI in the city on Wednesday, Hegde said that   the Centre usually   did not open ITIs on its own and the request has to come   from the State Government.

On being asked about the lack of awareness and less participation of   local youths from the State for the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the Minister added that the Ministry had a   made a plan to work with the State Government to make people aware about the yojana even in every cluster of the village.

The Minister on Wednesday visited the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra in Demseiniong and even visited the ITI in Rynjah.

The Minister also interacted with the students and   authorities during the visit,
