SHILLONG: Daring Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to file a case against him for calling him corrupt, the national secretary of BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha, Hayithung Bill Lotha, said on Friday that he was ready for a debate with Sangma in this regard.
After Lotha on Wednesday termed the chief minister as the ‘most corrupt CM in India’ while alleging corruption in Meghalaya under his leadership, the next day Sangma reacted threatening legal action against Lotha for such an utterance.
The chief minister had also termed the statement of Lotha as irresponsible.
However, speaking to The Shillong Times over phone on Friday, Lotha said, “I stand by every word I had spoken and I have facts and figures to substantiate my stand. Hence, if the chief minister is bold enough, he should be ready for an open debate with me.”
According to Lotha, he will represent BJP in the open debate in the presence of media persons, NGOs, students, church leaders and concerned citizens.
The BJP leader said people have the right to know the “wrong agenda and wrong narrative which the Congress has initiated depriving the people of basic necessities”.
“I am ready to debate with the chief minister for minimum five hours and I will cover all the aspects with facts and figures,” he said.
