IMPHAL: The 22nd Liangmai Sports Association (LSA) Meet 2012 is all set to celebrate with the message of ‘brotherhood’ early January at Oklong, the first Zeliangrong village also known as Guangphungning in Senapati district which is being organized by Central Executive Committee of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The mega event which is to be held from January 10 -January 21 is more than a fusion of sports for youths from Liangmai community spread across the present States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The event will surely be a “home coming” to their ancestral land, “Guangphungning” (Oklong), Dominic Chawang, spokesman of Central Executive Committee of LSA told pressmen at Imphal Hotel on Wednesday.
The meet will be an inclusive venture not only to showcase the energetic talents of young people in sports, music and culture extravaganza but to link the present ecstasy to her (Liangmai community) rich past and to press home the message of brotherhood, Chawang added.
The LSA meet was conceived in the beginning of early, 80’s and has since attracted young youths to demonstrate their vibrant talents in sports, music and in the essence of the community’s culture. The 2012 edition of the event is being organized by LSA central committee along with the cooperation and well wishes of people, both on and off the screen.
More than 60 teams from various parts of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland will be participating in two events football and volleyball, both for men and women, Chawang informed.
A cash prize of rupees one lakh will be awarded to the men’s football winner team and Rs. 50,000 will be given to the runners up team and, Rs. 30,000 to the third placed team. A special cash prize of Rs. 7777 will be awarded to the team which scores the highest goals in the match, LSA president, Dara Newmai said.
He also said for the men’s volleyball event, Rs. 40,000 and 25,000 will be given as cash prizes to the winner and runners up teams respectively. For the women’s football match, the case prizes will be Rs. 30,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. Cash prizes for the women’s volleyball event will be Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 for the winner and runners up respectively. (NNN)
