SHILLONG: The Urban Affairs Department is yet to start any inquiry into the alleged misuse of MLA funds by South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai who, however, had denied the allegations.
An official with the Urban and Municipal Affairs Department said on Tuesday that the government should order the inquiry and then the department can appoint an inquiry officer.
The official also said the inquiry into the MLA scheme implemented by West Shillong legislator Paul Lyngdoh is underway and the report will be submitted soon.
When contacted, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar said he has no role in monitoring the urban schemes of MLAs as this is dealt by the Municipal Affairs Department.
“We are only monitoring the schemes in the rural constituencies being implemented by the MLAs,” Dkhar said.
