Tribute to Steven Dkhar

SHILLONG: Dr. Steven Aibor Dkhar (Kharsyntiew), passed away on October 31 at Pondicherry. He was born to (L) Francis C. Banks and Silvery Dondor Dkhar on May 30, 1960.
He joined as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Pondicherry in 1994.
He held the post of Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Professor Senior Scale, the first Khasi to hold this post.
He has guided many MD, PHDs and DM Students and was a keen researcher. His love for teaching made him popular among the students.
Homage was paid to Dr. Steven at JIPMER Auditorium Pondicherry on November 2 and a service was also held at the Emmanuel Methodist Church, Pondicherry.
His funeral will take place on November 4 at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Balang Mawkhar, Mission Compound. The Funeral service will start at 2.00pm at Nongkynrih, Laitumkhrah.
