Guv calls for corruption-free society

SHILLONG: Governor Ganga Prasad has stressed on the need to make the society corruption free.
Speaking at the U Tirot Sing Best Students Award programme organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad  here on Saturday, Prasad asserted that everyone should work for the betterment of the country even as he reminded that U Tirot Sing sacrificed his life for the country.
“The question is what would our young India do for our new India,” he said, adding that it depends on youths now as how they would take the country forward.
Maintaining that people should always look and try to address the problem of others, the Governor added that Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is the biggest organisation in the world which is working for the students’ community.
Meritorious students from different schools were felicitated on the occasion.

Toppers felicitated
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad felicitated the toppers of each school from the city. The programme was graced by the governor Om Prakash Agarwala, former president chamber of Commerce, Shillong, as guest of honour.
Speaker Joram Aniya, National Executive Council Member Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, and Darilin Tang, State Secretary ABVP, Meghalaya, S.K. Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, NEHU,. BB Dutta, former RajyaSabha Member and Vikash Gupta (Ward Commissioner JB Cantt.) were also present as special guests.
