London tour enriching experience: Conrad

SHILLONG: Tura Lok Sabha MP Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said his academic exposure at London School of Economics (LSE) has been an enriching experience as lesson on skills for growth, development and sustainability and urban governance with respect to Indian context were of “immense benefit”.

He said such academic exposure shapes their ideas and motivates them to carry forward the agenda for social and transformative change in the society.

“I am happy that I was given an opportunity along with eight other MPs to attend the academic programme by the British High Commission at LSE. We have lot of common goals and interest and such academic exposure keeps us updated with what is happening round the globe,” he said.

Conrad stated that an academic trip enables a young MP like him to understand world politics, bilateral relations for mutual cooperation and pushes their adrenaline to work for the people with common goal and agenda.

“It is a great practice that MPs from across the world get to meet each other at such programmes and foster relationship and engages in discussion which centresaround social cohesion, peace building and economic transformation”, he added.
During the week-long academic programme at LSE, the MPs engaged with the professors of the academia and discussed issues related to sustainable development goals to push the agenda of growth considering the importance of environment, conservation and bio-diversity.
The MPs also discussed on common issues of Brexit like trade and services, bilateral relations etc.
