TURA: The colorful Wangala dance troupe from the village of Chidaogre, under Rongram block, was adjudged the best troupe in this year’s 100 drums festival celebrations.
A trophy and prize-money of fifty thousand rupees was presented to the Chidaogre Wangala troupe.
The second prize went to Wa’dagre Wangala troupe that walked away with a cash prize of thirty thousand rupees.
The third position was given to Dingnabra Wangala troupe.
A total of ten dance contingents from the traditional Songsarek villages of Garo Hills take part in the 100 Drums Wangala festival displaying their skills at dancing and beating the drums.
The other dance contingents that took part are Gondenggre, Watregre, Rengsangre-Selbalgre, Gambarrigre, Rom-Tingmangre, Darichikgre and Sadolpara.
