SHILLONG: HS Shylla, who will contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Nongkrem on NPP ticket, has slammed the United Democratic Party (UDP) saying it has no presence in the state other than Khasi Hills.
Speaking at a function held at Sohryngkham on Saturday, Shylla said UDP has no presence in Jaintia Hills and in Garo Hills.
He added that UDP and HSPDP which has forged an alliance are only imagining that they would get 32 seats.
He added that the NPP wave is getting stronger in Khasi-Jaintia Hills as around nine MLAs will soon join the party.
Continuing his attack on HSPDP, the former UDP leader said even the party’s president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit will not win the elections.
“In Mawlai, around 5,000 have joined PDF in the recent week but now many of them are leaving and many MDCs are planning to leave since they found that this party is not democratic but run by a ‘malik’,” the NPP candidate from Nongkrem said.
