SHILLONG: The State Security Commission has directed the Police Department to take necessary measures to ensure that the 2,751 vacancies are filled at the earliest.
The Division Bench of the High Court of Meghalaya recently quashed the stay on the recruitment process of SF-10 commandos with conditions.
On August 31, the single bench had stayed the selection process citing various anomalies by the Home Department.
Speaking to media persons here after the meeting of the Commission on Friday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the committee reviewed the matter and necessary recommendations were given to the Police Department to expeditiously resolve the matter.
Sangma informed that recruitment includes those of SF-10 commandos, battalion cadres and sub inspectors.
“In the process, new vacancies of over 500 more have also been accumulated,” he added.
The recruitment has been challenged in the court by the petitioners and a final hearing on the matter is pending in the court.
