SHILLONG: The state government, despite its financial crunch, is exploring the possibility of funding the Centre’s smart city project alone.
Urban and Municipal Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh said since the Centre had projected 50:50 funding pattern, the state government is not in a position to provide its share and wanted 90:10 funding norm.
“The chief minister had already taken up the matter with the Centre but we had not received any positive response,” Lyngdoh said.
He said in this context, the state government will have no other option but to implement the project by itself by availing of funds from various sources.
