People donate Rs 5 lakh to help Draison Kharshiing to contest polls

SHILLONG: The resident of Khanduli village on the Meghalaya-Assam border, which falls under Nartiang Legislative Assembly Constituency in West Jaintia Hills District, has donated Rs 5 lakhs to Draison Kharshiing to contest the state Assembly elections in 2018

Kharshiing was a former MLA (2003-2008) from the Nartiang constituency and three- time MDC (1989-1994, 1994-1999, 1999-2004) from Moobakhon-Khanduli Constituency.

People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Zonal Committee Nartiang Constituency led by Kharshiing, has elected youth party workers of Umladang unit on November 17.

Meanwhile, Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) Mylliem Zonal Committee has welcomed Frederick J Lyngshiang during a meeting at Lawsohtun Community Hall on November 17.

Lyngshiang deserted the UDP camp as a president of UDP Shillong City as well as president of UDP Laban-Mawprem Constituency.

In his speech, Lyngshiang said that he had lost confidence in UDP and not taking issues like that of MUDA encroachment, issues regarding traditional heads etc.
