Mawkyrwat: MP Vincent H. Pala on Friday laid the foundation stone for four road projects sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Ranikor constituency in South West Khasi Hills district.
Speaking to reporters after laying the foundation stone for the road connecting Upper Puksora to East Gulsora, Pala said through PMGSY, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 200 crore for 260 km road project in Meghalaya.
He also said most of the roads sanctioned under PMGSY were in West Khasi Hills District. “Almost Rs 150 crore was sanctioned for the road projects in West Khasi Hills in which Ranikor constituency got eight projects (in October),” Pala said and added that most of the roads in Jaintia Hills were nearing completion but many in Garo Hills were still pending.
The MP appreciated local MLA and PWD Minister MM Danggo and PWD Secretary PS Marwein for their hard work.
Meanwhile, Danggo told reporters that it was because of the hard work and monitoring by the MP and Marwein that these projects got sanctioned. “With these sanctions, it will be a blessing to my constituency that needs road connectivity. I hope that after completion of the work, people will be benefitted,” the minister said.
