SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (Central Body) under the leadership of Readyon Stone Nongrum Education Secretary met the Director of Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Ambrose C Marak to apprise him about the decision taken by the managing committee of Laban Bengalee Girls Higher Secondary School Laban to extend the service of the present principal beyond the age of superannuation.
The union in its meeting with the director conveyed strong objection of such extension.
According to the Union, if the service of a teacher is extended after retirement, it will deprive the promotion of teachers who are eligible to take over as per the Meghalaya Education Act.
The union also added that such extension will also deprive others belonging from the State and other community for applying for the post which may arise in the school after the retirement of teachers.
Further the union leader also appraised the matter to Health Minister Roshan Warjri who assured the union that she will look into the matter.
The union is also planning to meet Education Minister Deborah Marak with regard to te matter.
