JOWAI: The Executive Committee (EC) of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has finally decided to remove Shellsing Langi from the post of U Waheh Shnong (headman) of Ummulong village.
The JHADC issued a notification on November 24 for his removal with a copy to the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia HIls, WJH Superintendent of Police, the Dolloi, Elaka Jowai and also to all concerned including complaints.
“Executive Committee had perused the report dated October 12, 2017 submitted by the dolloi, Elaka Jowai stating therein the reasons that the dolloi could not take any decision regarding the complaint dated August 29, 2017 against the Waheh Shnong Ummulong lodged by residents of the village and after examination of the records, hearings from all side, the Executive has decided to remove Langi from the post of Waheh Shnong and appointed and acting Waheh Shnong”, the order stated.
The removal of the headman was taken under relevant provision of The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Establishment of Elaka and Village and Election, Appointment Powers and Function and Jurisdiction of Dolloi, Sirdar and Waheh Shnong Act 2015.
Meanwhile, the JHADC has also appointed Leo Laloo as the acting Waheh Shnong till further order.
