TURA:The TURA Government College Students Union (TGCSU), fed up by the frequent transfer of their college lecturers to other institutions have taken up the matter with the Education Minister.
The Union led by its General Secretary Nikman Ch Marak and Debate &Symposium Secretary Balkarin Ch Marak recently submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister, demanding the restriction of frequent transfer of lecturers to other institutions. The TGCSU, in their memorandum has also demanded the immediate filling up of a vacant post of lecturer in the Botany Department in lieu of Hero Tynsong who had been appointed on August 8th 2011 but till date had allegedly not joined. The Union has also demanded the recruitment of the college’s NCC cadets into the state’s police force.
The Union’s foremost objection of the frequent transferring of lecturers is because it creates unnecessary workload on the remaining faculty members as vacant posts are not occupied in time resulting in back-log of the entire year’s syllabus, informed the General Secretary.
The Union strongly felt that vacant posts should be filled up immediately through appointment and not through transfer without replacement from any institution.
He further informed that the Union had appealed to the Education Minister to make it mandatory for lecturers to complete minimum three years of service before any transfer to other institutions.
The Union lastly demanded the recruitment of the college’s NCC cadets into the State Police force. The NCC Cadets from Tura Government College aid Traffic Police Personnel, participate during Independence Day and Republic Day Celebrations and have brought laurels to the College and the State through participation in various camps organized by the Indian Army, Marak said. Therefore, it is justifiable that they be recruited into the State Police Force, he said.
