Foundation stones laid for 5 road projects in Ranikor

Mawkyrwat: PWD minister and local MLA MM Danggo laid foundation stones for five different road projects including bridges sanctioned under different schemes in Ranikor constituency in South West Khasi Hills on Tuesday.
The projects are Rangthong-Rangjadong road (8 kms) which was sanctioned under the Special Plan Fund for Rs.7 crore, approach road to Shnongkalong (2.44 kms) sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF)–XXIII for Rs.1.6 crore, approach road to Kensimphlang (1.40 kms) sanctioned under the General State Fund, Rangjadong to Ngunraw road (3 kms) and Rangthong to Sarin road  (12.25 kms) sanctioned under the PMGSY for Rs1.49 crore and Rs 6.73 crore respectively.
The minister also laid foundation stones for the RCC bridges on the approach road to Kensimphlang sanctioned under RIDF-XXIII for Rs1.42 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Danggo expressed happiness over the sanctioned road projects. “Road is life. I hope these roads will help change Ranikor constituency so that it can be on a par with other parts of the state,” Danggo said. The MLA stressed on the hurdles faced by the villagers every day and wished the roads help them.
He also requested the people of the area to cooperate with the contractors who will be executing the work in order to complete the projects soon.
Danggo also hit back at those who claimed there was ‘zero development’ at Ranikor during his 20 years as MLA, saying, “Only those who pretended to be blind did not see the development activities that happened in the constituency.”
Ranikor MDC, Manstudy Nongrem, PWD executive engineer Ranikor Division, F. Sohlang and Additional Deputy Commissioner, H.S. Diengdoh, among others were present at the programmes.
