TURA: East Garo Hills police have arrested a 38-year-old man who had been sexually abusing a ten-year-old girl for the past few months.
The arrest took place in the village of Naringgre Chidogittim under Rongjeng police station on Thursday.
The sexual assault on the child was revealed after some boys from the village spotted the man, Sparson K Sangma, leading the child to a nearby forest and attempting to rape her on Sunday last.
The accused belongs to the same village and the little girl has revealed that the man had been repeatedly abusing her for the past few months using threats and intimidation.
He was nabbed by the villagers while attempting to commit the crime in the forest on November 26th and the family of the victim had filed a police complaint.
“We have arrested the culprit based on the FIR of the minor victim’s parents. It was revealed by the victim that she had been sexually assaulted several times by the culprit,” said SP in charge of EGH, Ringrang TG Momin.
