Protecting land tenure on Nongstoin NPP’s agenda

NONGSTOIN: Macmillan Byrsat, the NPP candidate from Nongstoin, has said his agenda for the 2018 elections is to make laws for preserving the land tenure system and customs and traditions, among other things.
Addressing a gathering at a meeting on Thursday evening, Byrsat said protecting Christianity from the effect of unwanted law, fighting against youth unemployment and striking down laws affecting the public like the ban on mining are also on his agenda.
S Syiem, vice chairman of Nongpyndeng unit, said villagers responded positively.
B Rynshiang, one of the villagers of Nongpyndeng, said Nongstoin as the district headquarters of West Khasi Hills was left behind in many developmental issues and no one comes forward to take responsibility to safeguard the traditional rights of the people on land.
M Paliar, a strong supporter of NPP in Nongstoin, Byrsat was an able leader.
The NPP candidate and president of NPP WKH Setsing Dkhar also administered oath to newly elected leaders and members of the party from three polling stations of Nongpyndeng.
