SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) is apparently over the moon in the wake of the resignation of state’s Power Minister, Comingone Ymbon who is now all set to join NPP.

The NPP National President, Conrad Sangma while speaking to The Shillong Times on   Monday said that the leaders leaving Congress party only shows that the growing dissent in Congress and the failure of the leadership   even as he added that the confidence level of the Congress had certainly   dropped which was reflected from the decision of some senior leaders not to contest the elections.

“We are happy as we are getting positive response and we have ideas to change all the misgovernance in the state,” he said.

Sangma, however, said that there required some technical process which had to be followed before the leaders from other parties officially join the NPP.

Responding to queries, Sangma said that they were organizing the party in the state and planning to contest as many seats as possible and they might even contest in all the 60 seats.

He, however, said that it would be too early for the party to predict as how many seats it could secure for itself.

Sangma also expressed hope that more and more people would join the party as NPP was the only alternative option in the state.

Speculations were rife that Ymbon, might join National People’s Party (NPP) along with a number of other Congress legislators.
