SHILLONG: The Intel India president Dr Praveen Vishakantaiah on Wednesday stated that the state of Meghalaya can do wonders in Information Sector (IT) by producing more entrepreneurs.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday during his one day visit to the State, Dr Praveen Vishakantaiah said having more entrepreneurs will help Meghalaya make its IT a booming sector. According to Vishakantaiah, the company is willing to help youths becoming entrepreneurs by training them through various government sponsored programmes.
It may be mentioned that Intel had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State Government in 2009 with a goal to train teachers on professional development and awareness of practical applications of hands – on and collaborative learning to integrate technology with the existing curriculum and to help in developing skills of a 21st century teacher.
The Intel programme in the state underlines the advantage of organized Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) adoption by providing access to personal computers, enabling broadband internet connectivity, educating teachers and students on the application of technology in day – to day life.
It may be mentioned that the company so far has trained 100 ‘lead master trainers’ in the state since the day it inked a deal with the State Government.
