TURA: A havildar in the 3rd IRBn, headquartered in Jowai, succumbed to his injuries which he received during a family feud on Wednesday.
The havildar, Samson D Sangma, was from Rewak in Siju, South Garo Hills. He was married in Damas.
A dispute between clan members and the victim occurred on Monday in Damas during which five relatives assaulted Sangma.
According to police, the assailants had reached a compromise after the assault and had taken him to Dainadubi and later Goalpara for treatment from where he was referred to Guwahati but he died on the way.
A murder case has been registered against the assailants who have since fled.
