SHILLONG: The West Jaintia Hills district police are taking measures to ensure that vehicular traffic is not disrupted especially that of emergency services.
In a statement to the press on Thursday with regard to a report published in the newspaper, West Jaintia Hills SP Vivek Syiem said the checking of coal-laden trucks at Phramer is being carried out due to the order by the Supreme Court on November 21.
He said the court gave four months for transportation of extracted coal and also there was an NGT order dated April 17, 2014, for checking of illegal transportation of coal.
“With regard to the allegation of collection of money from coal trucks, it is requested that in the event of encountering such instances, the general public or drivers may submit written complaints supported with photographs to the SP office for initiating legal action,” Syiem said.
