SHILLONG: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Thursday released its second list of candidates for next year’s Assembly elections.
The party’s central election committee announced eight names, including two district council members, in the latest list taking the total number of candidates announced so far to 19. Its first list was released last month.
The candidates are Arbinus Lyngdoh (Umroi), Highlander Kharmalki (Mawryngkneng), James Ban Basaiawmoit (Pynthorumkhrah), Sarita Lyngdoh (Mawlai), Judah JM Wahlang (Sohiong), Leston Wanswett (Shella), Councellor S. Wahlang (Mairang) and Synranlang Nongshlong (Rambrai-Jyrngam).
In a statement issued here, PDF general secretary Auspicious L. Mawphlang said the committee will soon release the third list.
Altogether, there are nine MDCs who will contest from PDF. The seven MDCs whose names were announced last month are Hadrian Lyngdoh, Good Leaderson Nongsiej, Morningstar Mawsor, Latiplang Kharkongor, Banteidor Lyngdoh, Grace Mary Kharpuri and James Sylliang. Arbinus and James are added to the list.
The party is also eyeing candidates from Garo Hills to contest the Assembly elections as the party is targeting the mark of 40 constituencies before the commencement of the elections.
