Syiem official nominee of Congress for Nongpoh seat

NONGPOH: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Dr. D. D Lapang has announced that Mayralborn Syiem would be the official nominee of the party from the Nongpoh assembly constituency in the coming election to be held in 2018.
Dr. Lapang, currently representing the seat, said is not contesting the next assembly poll due to personal reasons. The declaration of Syiem as the official nominee of the Congress on Thursday was hailed by the party workers. Addressing a general meeting of Nongpoh Block Congress Committee, Dr. Lapang assured his party supporters of his continued service for serving the people. Syiem is known to be very close to Dr. Lapang.
Dr. Lapang appealed to the electorate of Nongpoh to extend their support to Syiem whom he termed as a capable person. Syiem said he has various dreams for the betterment of the Nongpoh Constituency. The general meeting of Nongpoh Block Congress Committee was attended by, among others, the Working President of MPCC James S Lyngdoh, Vice President of NBCC, Minsingh Makri, President of Congress Nongpoh Youth Assembly Pyndap Wahlang, Working President of NBCC Opel Lyngdoh and Senior Chief Organiser of NBCC BS Teron.
