TURA: Former NPP woman member and party ticket contender who resigned over ticket allocation in Rangsakona constituency of West Garo Hills has joined the BJP.
Pilne A Sangma joined the BJP during the party’s Karyakarta Sammelan meeting of Rangsakona mandal committee at Harigaon village of Garobadha on Saturday. Around 200 of her supporters also merged with the BJP. The soon to be announced ticket distribution in which NPP has chosen Subir Marak to contest from Rangsakona seat is believed to have resulted in Sangma’s departure from NPP.
“I have decided to join the BJP because there are certain objectives that the party follows which I strongly support. Corruption free government, Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, women empowernent and the policy of nation first, party second and individual last have drawn me towards the BJP,” said Pilne Sangma.
The Rangsakona seat is expected to be a multicornered contest in which the prime contenders are expected to be Congress candidate and sitting MLA Zenith Sangma, NPP’s Subir Marak and the candidate who will be fielded by the BJP.
