Fund misappropriation by VEC secretary  alleged

TURA: Job card holders under Mondalpara Village Employment Council (VEC) in South West Garo Hills have lodged complaint against the VEC Secretary for allegedly withdrawing funds meant for several projects although work has not been started on any of them.

The projects include, improvement of ban cum road to Putultoli (450m) for an amount of Rs 5,70,400 , construction of TEO Wall at PWD Road to Kukurmua for an amount of Rs 3,32,000 , construction of ban cum Road at Kendrikona (sanctioned under former secretary) for an amount of Rs 1,13,000  and Improvement of playground at Bairijhora for an amount of Rs 4,52,700 all of which have been completed on paper.

The job card holders led by one, Abu Sama have submitted a complaint against VEC secretary, Ayub Ali, to the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner demanding his removal and to initiate an inquiry into the matter. The complainants also sought that an order be issued for conduct of fresh election to the post of VEC secretary.
