SHILLONG: NCP MLA Sanbor Shullai has been relieved from the post of party president, Meghalaya unit, a development that apparently paves the way for the sitting South Shillong legislator to join BJP.
Shullai, who had recently met BJP senior leaders, KJ Alphons and Nalin Kohli here, is also scheduled to share the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Polo on Saturday.
The NCP chief in Meghalaya was relieved from the post based on the recommendations of party general secretary Praful Patel after considering the fact that Shullai would be busy in his own constituency and would not be able to give sufficient time in the elections for the party. This was stated by SR Kohli, permanent secretary and member, NCP working committee, in a notification.
Meanwhile, Vijay Raj has been appointed working president of NCP, Meghalaya with immediate effect.
