Assam BDOs warned against unauthorised absence

GUWAHATI: Assam Government on Friday directed all the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to stay in their respectively headquarters without fail with effect from January 15 next failing which stern disciplinary action will be taken against them.

Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, MGVK Bhanu have stated that it had come to the notice of the state government that many BDOs did not stay in their respective headquarter on the pretext of want of residential quarter and that led to frequent absence of BDOs from the office, which, he said, was not at all acceptable to the government.

 He, therefore, directed all the BDOs make arrangement for themselves to stay in their respective headquarter from January 15 without fail and henceforth of absence of any BDO from the office sans permission of the respective Chief Executive Officer (CEO) would be considered as unauthorised absence.

The Additional Chief Secretary said the BDOs must arrange for rented accommodation for themselves if there was not official quarter was there or else they may stay in a room in the office.
