SHILLONG: A one-day workshop on online services (E-Services) was organized by the State Taxation Department in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture in the city on Friday.
Commissioner of Taxes, J Lyngdoh speaking on the occasion said that with E-Services it will bring in huge transparency and will reduce all sorts of manipulation.
“E-Service is a boon and it will benefit the state economy since it is designed in a manner that is both citizen and dealer centric,” said Mr Lyngdoh.
The Taxation Department, Government of Meghalaya will implement E-Services by January 2012. “The introduction and implementation of E-Services will help government dealers in depositing advance tax and to determine whether their money is directly going to the government exchequer or elsewhere,” said Mr Lyngdoh further.
