SHILLONG: The general secretary of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Batkupar Wahlang passed away after prolonged illness on Sunday morning.
KHNAM MDC Adelbert Nongrum informed The Shillong Times about the sudden demise of the leader who has been associated with the party since 2004.
“He was a leader of dignity and was loyal to the party. His death is a huge loss to the party. We will find a capable leader for the post of general secretary,” he said.
The death of the leader comes at a time when the party is preparing for the forthcoming Assembly polls.
Wahlang will be laid to rest on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and one child.
