SHILLONG: Shillong may see a dull New Year celebration this year because the cash-strapped state government might not organise any programme.
Sources said there is not much fund with the district administration for organising various programmes to usher in New Year. Besides, it is already in election mode.
However, it is not known if other departments have lined up any programme because there is no announcement so far.
The New Year celebration in Shillong has been appreciated by many people and many tourists also throng the city on the occasion.
