SHILLONG: The executive chairman of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), Pravin Bakshi, said on Thursday the board would look into any goof-ups if brought to its notice.
The statement came after the Khasi Students’ Union condemned the “unprofessionalism of SSA and MBoSE” for allowing the publication of a Class III textbook with wrong information about the royal house of the Hima Khyrim.
Bakshi said the board always takes up issues with publishers whenever such errors are brought to the knowledge of MBoSE.
In a letter to the Director of School Education and Literacy recently, the union had said Ingsad, which is the royal house of the Hima Khyrim, is being represented as ingtrep (hut) in the book Tip Ia Ka Pyrthei, which is a copyright of MBoSE, Tura.
Meanwhile, the state Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has also demanded an apology from the state government and MBoSE for publication of the textbook.
In a statement issued here, BJYM president Egenstar Kurkalang questioned whether permission was sought from the Syiem of Hima Mylliem for the book’s publication.
Further, he expressed surprise that the Khasi book was printed in Noida.
