SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma has called for covering more woman and mothers under different programmes of financial inclusion.
Speaking here on Friday during a programme, “Woman Economic Empowerment through financial inclusion,” Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma said that there was a need to cover all the woman and female heads under the scheme.
Sangma felt that all the women should have bank accounts and it should be supported with financial literacy.
He, however, also cautioned women to be careful from frauds and cheating and digital banking network even as he stressed that knowledge on financial literary must be given to women to protect themselves from various frauds and cheatings.
He pointed out that 1.20 lakh families will be covered under the scheme.
Later, Mohrendro Rapsang, who is aspiring to contest the polls said that he has asked the Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma to implement the scheme in different places of the state including West Shillong constituency so that woman can derive benefit out of the scheme.
Later, Mukul Sangma handed over seed money of Rs 5000 to many beneficiaries.
