JOWAI: A fifty-five-year-old night chowkidar (watchman) was charred to death in a fire incident that broke out at a private stone block factory at Mooralong, Ladthadlaboh, Jowai at around 2:30 am on Sunday.

Sources informed that the victim Kwin Wann of Shangpung Mission was a Grade IV employee at the Office of the Division Soil (Tertitorial) and Water Conservation, Jowai and engaged himself as a chowkidar at night.

The factory was completely gutted as was an automobile workshop, besides three vehicles — a Bolero, a Maruti 800 and a Tata Indica.

The body was handed over to the relatives after a spot post-mortem examination.
