NONGSTOIN: A newly formed outfit led by one Lumlang Hassah, a former ANVC cadre of Riangju is reportedly active in and around Nirang coal quarry near Shallang of West Khasi Hills. The outfit has 15 cadres.
The outfit, name not dislosed, has two NSCIN-IM cadres. They are functioning from temporary camp at Nirang village near Riangmaw and a training camp at Nohwah.
Sources said that last week the group had taken into captivity unidentified laborer from Nirang quarry and till date the person remains untraced.
The group has been collecting and serving demand notes to all the coal quarry miners/owners in and around Shallang area.
Surprisingly the group has collected statistics about the coal mine owners, how much coal is being sold off daily etc from the coal laborers at Nirang village. The outfit also burnt down all the sheltering shades owned by Top- Cem Company at Shallang coal quarry.
It may here be mentioned that earlier the public as well as coal miners did not allow any company to run and own coal quarry.
However, Top-Cem could manage these barriers and started mining coal in and around Shallang area.
Coal trader O.Wahlang addressing the press on saturday alst demand the Government to take immediate action to crush all the militant group in Shallang area.
