TURA: The BJP ticket aspirant from Phulbari constituency, Binoy Ghosh, has criticized the current legislator and Assembly Speaker A T Mondol questioning his alleged lack of initiative to development the constituency despite being its elected representative for the last ten years.

“He (Mondol) has been the MLA for two consecutive terms. He was a minister in the first term and now the Speaker of the assembly but Phulbari has not development all this time during his tenure. He has failed peoples’ expectations,” says Ghosh who is planning to take on the Congress legislator in the upcoming elections.

According to Ghosh, the biggest indicator of under-development of the region was the Agia-Medhipara-Phulbari-Tikrikilla (AMPT) road which is the lifeline of the people of the region.

“The pathetic road condition of AMPT is an eyesore for everyone and people are suffering immensely due to lack of any repairs. It is proof of the failure of the Congress government in the state and its representative in Phulbari,” thundered Ghosh in an interaction with media persons on Sunday at Phulbari.

The alleged delay in the distribution of the MLA schemes by Mondol was also raised by Ghosh who questioned the last minute distribution of CGI sheets to beneficiaries by the speaker.

“For five long years he was nowhere to be seen and only now he is giving out CGI scheets? Where are the rest of the MLA schemes? He has to be accountable to the electorate of Phulbari,” demanded the BJP leader.

The Phulbari constituency is expected to witness a multi-contest with the current heavyweights being Mondol of the Congress, S G Esmatur mominin of the NPP, Binoy Ghosh of the BJP and Independent Mark Goera B Marak.
