SHILLONG: Fresh irregularities pertaining to implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at Umniuh Tmar Iarbiniaw village under Pynursla Development Block have come to light.

The Village Employment Council (VEC) secretary Lemon Khongliar and some of his staff have produced a set of fake cash memos after misappropriating fund allotted to implement the Centre-sponsored scheme, said Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) in a statement on Monday.

The CSWO filed an FIR with the Pynursla Police Station on Monday in this connection.

In the FIR, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said besides misappropriation of fund by producing fake cash memos, the secretary also illegally withdrew the wages of two persons — Kohima Mawkhlieng and Randi Khongtiang — by forging their signatures.

According to Kharshiing, Kohima had worked for 14 days in 2009-2010 and Randi for 38 days in 2010-2011.

She also alleged that the secretary had taken Rs 300 from each job card holders of the village.
