JOWAI: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Khliehriat Circle and the Narpuh Circle have set a 30-day deadline for the government to repair the NH-44 particularly within Khliehriat Sub-division right from Ladrymbai till Khliehriat.

The road condition is one of the main causes of heavy traffic jam along the road causing a lot of inconvenience to commuters in the area.

The KSU Khliehriat Circle President, Satly S Ryngkhlem informed that the student’s organisation had earlier submitted a memorandum to the government in this connection.“This year, we had also organised a protest rally from Ladrymbai to SDO Office, but the road remains unrepaired due to adamant attitude of the government”, said Ryngkhlem. The KSU has also threathened to call for a road blockade if the government fails to fulfil its demand within a period of 30 days.
