Shillong: The Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC), currently under ceasefire, has urged the State Government to release its cadres’ month salary immediately.

As many as 180 ANVC cadres have not got their monthly salary of Rs 3,000 for the last six months.

The ANVC leaders discussed the issue during the outffit’s 16th raising day function held in Tura, West Garo Hills on Tuesday.

“This is Christmas season and it is a matter of concern that we are not able to pay the monthly allowance to our cadres,” the ANVC spokesperson Torik Marak said over phone from Tura. The publicity secretary of the organisation, Artist Sangma, echoed the same.

According to the duo, some Home Department officials are resorting to the delaying tactics and are not releasing the allowance meant for the cadres.

However, when contacted the acting Meghalaya DGP B Kezo denied these allegations and said that the money would be released at the earliest.
