SHILLONG: Pynshngain N Syiem, the chairman of the newly formed People’s Democratic Front (PDF), said on Wednesday there was a need for strong laws to ensure security of the state.
Syiem was addressing a rally at Maraikaphon in Sohra to garner support for party candidate Gavin Mylliem, the son of former chief secretary WMS Pariat.
President of PDF Ivanlumlang Marbaniang said though the party is young, it stands for the indigenous groups.
Mylliem said he joined politics to serve people. He added that there were requests from different political parties to contest the elections but he decided to seek ticket from PDF
