Restriction on printing of pamphlets

JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner and district election officer has directed all printing presses to strictly observe the provision of Section 127 A with regards to printing of pamphlets, posters and to indicate clearly in the print line the names and address of printer or publisher of any pamphlet and document to be sent to the district magistrate.
Any violation of the provisions will be punishable with imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000.
Meanwhile, a District Committee for Release of cash has been constituted with the DC as chairman. This committee is constituted to suo motu examine each case of seizure made by flying squads.
The deputy commissioner has also requested the traditional heads to refrain from holding meetings for the purpose of coercing voters in favour of a particular candidate by means of Durbar Resolution. In case of violation, the traditional head will be punished with imprisonment and fine as per Section 171E. The same is applicable to all individuals, NGO and other organisations.
