SHILLONG: Amway India and Bethany Society celebrated the 209th birth anniversary of Louis Braille with an exhibition match between Amway staff and the visually impaired footballers on Thursday. The birth anniversary of Braille is celebrated as World Braille Day, which is usually held on January 4. A bell soccer ball was used in the match. The Amway staff were blindfolded to create level playing field.
The footballers from Bethany won the match 1-0. “I thank Amway India for encouraging us to organise the football match…This engagement truly embodies the spirit of coexistence that ran as the leitmotif throughout the match,” said Carmo Noronha, executive director of Bethany Society.
