SHILLONG: Mawryngkneng MLA, David Nongrum may land up in trouble as he joined the Congress without resigning from the post. Nongrum, who contested the last election as independent candidate, has been named as Congress nominee this year.
An Assembly official said that the sitting MLA till date has not resigned from the post. The official said that Nongrum may be disqualified if any one makes a complaint against him during the filing of nominations.
Though Nongrum is an Independent legislator, the anti defection law applies to him if he switches over to another party without resigning as MLA.
