Jonathone to join NCP

TURA: Jonathone N Sangma, who came close to winning the Williamnagar seat in the last assembly elections in 2013 has voiced his intention of contesting the upcoming  elections on February 27 on a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket.

According NCP Party sources, Jonathone recently spoke to State party president, Saleng A Sangma and expressed his desire to join the party and contest on its ticket.

“He has expressed his desire to join the party but is yet to give a formal letter. His name and candidature will be announced after he formally joins the party,” the source said.

According to Jonathone, he took the decision to join the NCP after his supporters wanted him to be a part of the party which was expressed during their meeting.

“I want to join the NCP as I am happy with its ideals. The time for development in the state has come and I want to bring change through the NCP,” he said.

The Congress, BJP, NPP, UDP and NCP are all putting up candidates to contest the Williamnagar seat which is expected to be a keenly contested one. Three other candidates are also expected to contest for the seat as independents.
