SHILLONG: Prestone Tynsong of the National People’s Party (NPP) said on Tuesday that voters should be cautious about the chief minister’s “last-minute get-rich quick schemes” and reiterated that these are nothing but loans which eventually have to be repaid.
Tynsong was referring to the Women Empowerment Scheme through Financial inclusion and Entrepreneurship and the Meghalaya State Livestock Mission. Earlier too, he had called these schemes “traps” for beneficiaries.
Addressing a gathering at a rally at Diengpasoh in Mawryngkneng constituency, Tynsong said the new government “will be formed by the NPP that will ensure overall development of the area and that the people of Mawryngkneng will benefit from employment opportunities from various state and central government offices in the New Shillong Township”.
The former minister, who was rallying for NPP’s Mawryngkneng candidate Pyniaid Sing Syiem, lamented that in the last five years, nobody raised the issues and hardships faced by the people of Mawryngkneng in the Assembly.
He also denied allegations that the NPP was the BJP’s Team B and hit back at the Congress for “misleading people”.
“It is threatened by the love and overwhelming support of the people of Meghalaya for the NPP,” he added.
