Morocco arrests 7 IS supporters

Rabat, Feb 1 (IANS/MAP) Moroccan security services have dismantled a terror cell of seven supporters of the Islamic State (IS) terror group, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

The cell was operating in the northern cities of Tangier and Meknes.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the cell was supporting and disseminating the propaganda of IS. The suspects were plotting to attack civilians and properties as well as to join a branch of the IS, a Ministry statement said.

The security services seized various electronic devices and weapons in addition to books and manuscripts promoting extremist ideology.
